Islamabad/Muzaffrabad:
The increase in water in the Jhelum river decreased on Sunday when it flowed to the mangla dam, one day after entering Chakothi in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) from the control line (LOC), authorities said.
The water level on the Jhelum River was recorded at 25,166 Cusecs, about three feet above normal. On Saturday, the river level had increased from 7 to 8 feet after India released water to the river.
The attached commissioner of the Mirpur district, AJK, said that the entry of water into the mangla dam was recorded at 47,100 Cusecs, while the output flow was at 32,000 Cusec. He added that there was still a great capacity to store more water in the dam.
“There is still a serious water shortage in the dam. The current level of water is 1,130 feet, while the maximum capacity is 1,242 feet. On this day last year, the water level was 1,144 feet,” he said.
On Saturday, India, who had been blowing heat and cold after the operation of False Flag of Pahalgam, experienced a rude awakening of his high ambitions to block Pakistan’s water, instead of releasing a sudden increase in the Jhelum River in a panic attack.
However, sudden release caused a high -level flood, causing fear and ravages among local communities during the night.
The administration of Muzaffrabad declared an emergency of water when the ascending waters took the unsuspecting residents.
The Jhelum River Serpentes from the Anantnag district in the Indian Jammu and Cashmira (Iiojk) to Pakistan through URI, Hattian Bala and Chakothi in Ajk.
The authorities warned the residents near the river to remain cautious and avoid venturing near the shores. A prohibition of swimming and transporting cattle was also imposed near the banks of the manglam dam.
The official of the State Disaster Management Authority, Saeed Qureshi, said the water level in the Jhelum river had decreased. “Water is three feet above normal in the river. The level is also increasing due to melted snow amid the increase temperature,” Qureshi added.
