When it comes to prosthetics, Jim Carrey knows everything there is to know after movies like How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and The Mask.
Carrey spoke openly about which of the prosthetics was the most difficult to endure and how they compare to each other.
In Sonic the hedgehog In the films, Carrey plays the villain Dr. Robotnik and sports a huge bald-head-like mustache. For Sonic the hedgehog 3He wore old-age makeup to play the character’s grandfather, Professor Gerald Robotnik.
However, the actor says the experience was really fun and was nothing like what he had to go through to play the Grinch.
“The group was easy. “They made it as simple as the process could be, and Mark Coulier and his group really did a fantastic job,” he shared. “And we had a great time. I mean, we just had a crazy time in the trailer.”
“There was no challenge like The Grinch. [For] The Grinch, I had to be trained by a guy who actually tells people and CIA agents how to endure torture. That’s how I surpassed The Grinch. So that was the worst,” he added.
In The Grinch, Carrey was covered in green hair, with his face covered in prosthetics and yellow glasses over his eyes to transform him into the cynical character who hates Christmas.
“The Mask was the buildup to that, and that challenged me quite a bit,” Jim Carrey said of the 1994 comedy co-starring Cameron Diaz.
