Jim Parsons has been remembering one of the most uncertain times during The Big Bang Theory first days.
In a new chat with Us weeklyThe actor, who played Sheldon Cooper, recalled when the cast feared the show would never return after the writers’ strike halted production during its first season.
“I remember our first season, after about seven or eight episodes, the writers went on strike and told us we were going to leave. We wouldn’t do anything else until it was over,” he recalled.
“We were all very upset about this,” he continued.
“It wasn’t about fearing for our jobs. It was that we were already really enjoying this show and really felt like we had something.”
Parsons said the hiatus ended up being a blessing in disguise: “It ended up working out very much in our favor.”
“More people were able to see us in the reruns and [when] we went back to [it]“It turned into something bigger, but we didn’t know it at the time.”
He added: “We all knew in our hearts that we were part of something special, and the way the business works could have derailed it.”
In conclusion, he commented: “We were very lucky.”
