Jimmy Kimmel turned his late-night performance into a barbecue after Time Magazine revealed his 2025 ‘Person of the Year’ cover, which honored a group he called AI Architects.
In a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel live! The 58-year-old presenter showed the cover to his audience, as it featured eight big names in the tech world, including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Sam Altman.
As soon as the image appeared before the people, the crowd booed loudly. However, Kimmel later joked about the choice, calling the group “the eight idiots of the apocalypse.”
He said he was surprised by the negative reaction and also mocked the title given to them.
“They call them architects,” he said, wondering if the people behind the AI really understood what they were building.
The comedy icon also spoke about the fears people often face around Artificial Intelligence, especially those who fear that it could replace human jobs.
Kimmel went on to note that it felt strange to celebrate the same people responsible for technology that could leave many workers behind.
The TV producer then mocked the cover design, joking that even with all the power of AI, the artwork looked very old-fashioned, reminding him of early photo editing tools.
Additionally, the segment also brought up the hosts’ long-running feud with tech icon Elon Musk, while repeating an insult Musk once hurled at him online.
