Islamabad:

The Jinnah Square project recently opened in the Federal Capital has been criticized after a section of the road collapsed during the first monzonic rain of the season, exposing serious concerns about the quality of construction.

The road near Serena Chowk collapsed in a few weeks after the completion, causing a significant interruption of traffic and generating public anger. The RS4.2 billion project was completed in just 84 days and the government had been acclaimed as a rapid development model.

“This is a cruel joke for taxpayers. If a multimillionaire road cannot bear a single rain spell, it reflects alarming negligence,” said a traveler on the site.

According to the reports, the affected section, a loop that connects G-5 with AABPARA, sank after the rain, preventing traffic and raising security concerns. Construction experts have demanded an independent investigation into the structural integrity of the project.

The teams of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) began emergency repairs shortly after collapse. However, engineers and citizens have expressed serious doubts about the quality and supervision of construction.

The public now urges Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the president of the CDA to initiate an investigation and hold those responsible for any negligence or negligence.
