The feed goat has returned.

Joey Chestnut returned to Nathan’s hot dog eating contest on Friday after not being eligible last year, and returned as if he never left.

Chestnut demolished 70.5 Hot Dogs and Buns for his 17th title in his last 18 events (he lost to Matt Stonie in 2015).

Chestnut knocked up 30 dogs in the first three minutes, already much ahead of his competition, and never looked back. It was well in pace to break its record of 76 dogs and buns in the period of 10 minutes, going down 46 in the first half of the competition.

He began to reduce the speed, leaving only 11 in the next two minutes, but he had practically already secured the victory. As a reference, he ate 58 Hot Dogs, the winning number last year, in the first seven and a half minutes. Now, it was a persecution for registration.

Fatigue got and fell short of his record for five. But, it was the best performance in the event since he resumed the record in 2021. It is the seventh time that Chestnut broke the 70th brand.

This was the twentieth appearance of Chestnut in the event, drawing the record of all time.

Last year’s champion, Patrick Betoletti, ended with 46.5 dogs and buns.

Chestnut was not eligible to participate in last year’s event after signing an agreement with impossible food, a Nathan rival.

But last month, Chestnut announced that he and the organizers had found common land in sponsorships.

“I am delighted to return to the famous Food Contest of Hot Dogs of July 4 of Nathan. This event means the world for me. It is a precious tradition, a celebration of American culture and a large part of my life,” Chestnut wrote in X.

“While I have associated and continue associated with a variety of companies, including some in plant -based space, those relationships were never a conflict with my love for hot dogs. To be clear: Nathan’s is the only hot dog company with which I have worked.

“I respect that there were differences in interpretation, but I am grateful that we have been able to find common land. I am excited to return to the Roney Island stage, do what I live to do and celebrate on July 4 with hot dogs in my hands! Stay with hunger!”

Chestnut was obviously the overwhelming favorite to win everything: he established a world record of eating corn popcorn in May.
