John Cominsky, a NFL defensive liner who played for the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions, announced his retirement from the league with only 29.
Cominsky made the announcement in a publication on social networks.

“After 6 years at the NFL, I officially retire,” he wrote in a statement published on his Instagram. “I am proud of the career I had, but I have accumulated a combination of injuries that overwhelm my desire to continue playing.
“Thanks to the Atlanta Falcons for believing in me and writing a Dii prospect front?
Cominsky added that “he learned a lot” when playing football and was grateful for having the opportunity to share the field with the players he admired as a young athlete and giving his hand to the Hall of Fame.

“Best of all, my marriage was strengthened and I had my two beautiful children,” he added. “Everyone arriving at perfect moments of my career, reinforcing to the finish line. I move away with my family in mind and, therefore, I have found peace in this difficult decision.

The Falcons selected Cominsky in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft of the University of Charleston in West Virginia.
He played in 27 games for the Falcons before appearing in 30 with the lions in 2022 and 2023. He suffered an MCL torn in the summer before the 2024 season and lost the whole season.

He recorded 107 cup and 7.5 captures in five seasons.
