Gruden joins a group of owners that includes the former coach of Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams, Jeff Fisher, who also serves as Commissioner of the League and president of Kats.

“I have been a fan of inner football for a long time and I took the opportunity to participate with Jeff and the Nashville Kats as part of the group of owners,” Gruden said in a statement. “I respect what Jeff has done during his career and continues to do with the Nashville Kats and as a commissioner of AF1. I am excited to be part of the team.”

Gruden has not been involved with any professional football team at any level since he resigned as coach of the Los Vegas Raiders during the 2021 season. The resignation occurred after the condemnatory emails that he sent before being hired by the franchise, which included anti-gay comments, racist and misogynists.

The 61 -year -old played an advisory role with the Saints of New Orleans in 2023, although it was not an official part of the staff.

He filed a lawsuit against the NFL for interference and conspiracy of the contract, but a panel of three justices in the Supreme Court of Nevada stood on the side of the 2-1 floor with the NFL. Gruden appealed the decision and will be reviewed by a court of seven people on a later date.

While Gruden is known for his time in the NFL, his younger brother, Jay, has won four titles of the Arena Soccer League as a player and two as a coach before jumping to the NFL.

Since his resignation, Gruden has stayed connected to the NFL, more recently joining Barstool Sports to provide his experience for the sports media company.
