Jordan Spieth has never had to withdraw from a beginning at any competitive golf level in his life, much less on the PGA tour.

There is a first time for everything.

After making 297 consecutive beginnings in the events he was scheduled to play, Spieth withdrew from this week’s traveler championship at TPC River Highlands due to a neck injury.

“I have never retired from an event anywhere at any level, so I really didn’t know what to do,” Spieth told journalists after making his decision, through Yahoo Sports. “He simply became too much … I don’t know, it’s unfortunate. I’ve been doing everything right, and I think it was very random.”

Spieth believes he was sleeping in an unusual position on Wednesday night, and the pain began to hit him during the practice shots in the range.

His usual heating routine was thrown and Spieth left the range early to receive treatment on his neck. But it didn’t work.

He tried things in the course, but seemed to have pain with every blow he did. After 12 holes, Spieth left it.

He extended in Hole 13, but after letting out a painful cry to Tee’s box, he knew it was time to stop pushing him. Spieth’s round was not going well. He was 5 years for the tournament at that time.

“While I was playing, I couldn’t, I was simply not moving very well, and then worse,” he explained. “I was just going to try to see if I could somehow pass in some way. It is a strange situation with an elevated and without cutting event and important points and things.

“I hit my exit blow on the 13th, and legitimately it hurts a lot … I thought, ‘Just get the round, and it is not worth it.’ I thought that was the time.”

The three -time winner older than 31 years and 13 times PGA Tour Victor has been looking for a victory on the tour since 2022. This season, he has achieved four first 10 best finals, but has not claimed a trophy.

Until Thursday, Spieth was 37 in the Fedex Cup classification this season.
