Peshawar:
Jamiat Ulema-E-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) senior and emir from Malakand district, Mufti Kifayatullah, died Thursday. He was receiving treatment in a hospital in Islamabad after suffering injuries in a shooting incident in his residence in Barkhela.
According to police and party sources, Kifayatullah was seriously injured a few days ago when his son supposedly opened fire inside the family home. Initially he was transferred to a hospital in Peshawar and then transferred to Islamabad to receive treatment, where he breathed for the last time.
The Chief of Jui-F, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, expressed his pain for the death of the leader of the major party, describing his death a great loss for the party.
In a statement, he said: “The services of Mufti Kifayatullah for the party and its commitment to the cause of religion and politics will always be remembered. Allah grants him the highest place in Jannah and gives patience to the afflicted family.”
Earlier this week, the tragic incident claimed the life of Kifayatullah’s daughter, while his wife was also seriously injured.
