Julia Roberts, a recognized actress, shares that at the beginning of her career she met people in the industry whom she described as “cruel.”

In an interview with PeopleHe shares, “I don’t think I entered my career with a lot of confidence. At first I found myself, not many, but a few critical people who were really cruel.”

The star continues: “And it was a really interesting challenge for me to decide the type of person I wanted to be.”

“So it was much more who wanted to be than the type of career I wanted to have,” says Julia.

“And then I wanted to take the person who wanted to build and put it in different situations of working life,” adds the actress.

Those experiences, says Julia, strengthened her enough to move forward in her career. “Of course, even then, I would feel fragments of gratitude. I would think: ‘Okay, there is a reason why it has to be so difficult.'”

“Now I see it as one of the lessons that I am more grateful because they showed me my resistance.”
