Spoilers follow Rupture season 1 and the first eight minutes of season 2.
If you don’t mind spoiling the beginning of Rupture season 2 for you, then there’s something to unravel in these first eight minutes that could give us more clues about what’s to come; However, don’t expect any of the top five fan theories to be answered.
In the first episode of season 2, Mark Scout (Adam Scott) returns to his ‘innie’ at Lumon Industries, after we last saw him wake up in the real world in the season 1 finale and discover that his wife she is still alive. Understandably, he is a little exhausted and tense after his escape.
Mark rockets out of the elevator to the jazzy tune of Les McCann’s ‘Burnin’ Coal’, giving us our first taste of what will no doubt be another phenomenal original score composed by Theodore Shapiro. This upbeat mix quickly becomes more contemplative as the opening theme begins to play.
As we saw in Rupture In the stunning new trailer for season 2, we see Mark meet the new Lumon employees played by Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban and Stefano Carannante who appear to have replaced Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro) and Dylan ( Zach Cherry).
It’s when Mark is welcomed to work by his supervisor Seth Milchick (Tramell Tillman) that things start to get interesting. Not only do we learn that it’s been five months since the Season 1 finale, but that Seth succeeded Harmony Cobel (Patricia Arquette) to become the manager of the ‘separate’ floor.
The change in management appears to be a consequence of Mark’s team successfully contacting their ‘outies’ and, in turn, becoming incredibly famous as whistleblowers. So where are Helly, Irving and Dylan? Seth tells Mark that his ‘outies’ refused to return to Lumon, but of course Mark doesn’t completely trust everything he says, especially after their failed mutiny.
This is when the clip fades into the Apple TV Plus logo, leaving us with many more questions: Is Seth telling the truth? Will Helly, Irving and Dylan return? Why did Mark’s ‘outie’ send him back? We’ll have to be patient to find out what happens next, but fortunately there are only three more weeks until the first full episode drops.
