Kabul assures Islamabad de Frontera Pacifica

In the continuous tension between Islamabad and Dehli, Pakistan’s special envoy for Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq Khan succeeded in his diplomacy to guarantee peace on the western border of the country, sources said Sunday.

Unbeatted support from a peaceful western border occurred when the special envoy of Afghanistan and its Chinese counterpart were in Kabul to improve regional connectivity by including Kabul in the Chinese belt and road initiative (BRI).

On Sunday he saw the first of a series of trilateral meetings, involving the envoys of China and Pakistan with the senior officials of the Afghan Taliban government. The meeting at the Ministry of Interior of Kabul was attended by Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, Yue Xiaoyong, the special envoy of China and Muhammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s special envoy, along with his delegations.

The meeting was convened to track discussions during the fifth trilateral dialogue between the foreign ministers of the three countries, prepare for the next sixth round and improve the broader political and economic cooperation between them.

During the meeting, Haqqani stressed the importance of strengthening regional ties, stating that from Kabul’s perspective, the progress of economic and political relations, as well as regional understanding, could be achieved through mutual respect and constructive commitment.

The special envoys of China and Pakistan reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen good neighboring relations and promote cooperation with Afghanistan based on mutual commitment. They also agreed that the sixth round of the trilateral dialogue of Foreign Ministers will take place in Kabul.

In addition, Interior Minister Haqqani said a peaceful western border during the tension between Pakistan and India, according to sources familiar with development.

Pakistan and China’s envoys also met with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. On the occasion, there was a convergence of views on the economic between them on matters related to security cooperation, as well as regional stability.

Post to that, the two parties also gathered. As part of our ongoing trilateral commitments, I joined the Chinese special representative in a meeting with the Minister of Commerce Nooruddin Azizi and discussed the issues related to the expansion of the China Pakistan economic corridor (CPEC) and other related issues.

“We made constructive discussions about the strengthening of trade and economic cooperation. In particular, the three parties agreed to build on the understandings of the TRILATERAL DE FM level of May 2023 in Islamabad, especially in extending the CPEC to Afghanistan,” said the envoy Muhammad Sadiq to the Express PAkGazette.
