Kaghan Valley experiences an unusual click

Balakot:

The Kaghan Valley is experiencing abnormal climatic patterns these days probably due to the effects of climate change.

The region saw that snow melted in the high mountains in April, unlike the previous year. At the end of May, the snowfall created an atmosphere in January.

After more than three inches of snowfall at the top of Babusar and the surrounding valleys, temperatures have fallen, and heavy rains in lower areas have increased water flow in the currents and rivers. This climate pattern is expected to continue over the next three days.

Heavy rains began in the Balakot area and yesterday in the surrounding regions, which caused snowfall in the upper areas of the Kaghan Valley.

As a result, temperatures have cooled, and May now feels more like January. With up to three inches of snow at the top of Babusar, a cold wave has returned to the valley, and the snowfall continues intermittently. After the snow in the mountains of the Kaghan Valley melted in April, there was a remarkable increase in temperatures, but yesterday’s rain and snow changed dramatically.

The four seasons of the Kaghan Valley (summer, winter, spring and autumn) are affected, with alterations in climatic patterns that clearly reflect the effects of climate change.

If appropriate measures are not taken to address this problem, not only Kaghan Valley will be affected, but Pakistan could also lose its different seasons.

Local experts in the Kaghan Valley believe that several factors contribute to the climate change in the region. The main reasons include unregulated construction and forest fires.

While fires in the forests of the Valley increase temperatures, construction without control, particularly the development of cement structures, is also contributing to the increase in temperature.

If urgent measures are not taken to mitigate these changes, all four natural seasons of Pakistan could be at risk.
