Kai Trump downplays golf with the president: “He’s my grandfather”

For Kai Trump, a round of golf with his grandfather is just another day in the life of his 18-year-old high school self. However, there is the obvious drawback that his grandfather is the president of the United States.

“I just don’t look at it like he’s the president. I look at it like he’s my grandfather. We’ll go out and play golf,” Kai said in a recent interview with Pak Gazette Digital. “We play golf all the time. It’s nothing new.”

Their most recent round had a bit of a twist, as the two played a better-ball round at Trump National Golf Club, Washington, DC, just outside the nation’s capital. And this one was for everyone to see.

The course was obviously closed as the Trumps made their way through what they both said would be the “perfect US Open course,” but Kai filmed the round as part of his YouTube channel, with the video titled “Playing Golf with President Donald Trump (My Grandfather).”

When Kai approached his grandfather with the idea, it was a resounding yes from the president.

“There were definitely a lot of moving parts, but he was 100% all for it,” Kai said. “He’s great when it comes to that kind of thing. He loved the idea and everything turned out well. For me, I’m playing a game with my grandfather. I had a great time with him and he made it easy. It was really nice to film with him.”

“Whenever I have time,” he added, “he will always find time to play golf with me. If I call him tomorrow and ask him to play golf next Saturday, he will have time for it. That’s one of his really good qualities: He always makes time for his family.”

A can of Accelerator Active Energy appeared frequently in the video, as Kai became an investor in the brand and has a NIL agreement with it before enrolling at the University of Miami to play college golf.

“Our brands align very well. I love energy drinks, always have, and the opportunity came up, and it’s been great working together ever since,” Kai said. “The drink itself is great too. Zero sugar, love the team, love the drink and it worked great.”

Kai’s next vlog will once again feature his grandfather, this time from last month’s Ryder Cup, where he was able to watch the first tee shots at Bethpage Black and even share a hug with Bryson DeChambeau.

“It was really cool to go to the Ryder Cup as I love golf and my whole life is golf. I watch it every time it’s on TV so it was nice to go watch it,” Kai said.

However, he did think that the fans were “too much” with the European team.

“I love Rory, I love all the European guys too,” he said.

Kai is only 18 years old and has the whole world ahead of him. For now, he’s focusing on academics during his senior year of high school before officially becoming a Hurricane. But there are other objectives in mind.

“Obviously, one of my biggest goals is definitely to play professional golf. So after college, I’m going to try to do that and do my best,” he said. “And then maintaining my social media. Pretty much everything I’m doing now, I just take it to the next level.”
