The torrential rain abused Karachi on Tuesday, paralyzing everyday life, flooding roads and leaving many travelers stranded for hours. The vehicles were stuck in long lines on the main roads due to the floods, while the residents fought to reach their destinations.
Despite the interruption, the spirit of the karachiitas remained intensive. Companies, shops and mosques opened their doors to stranded passersby, offering them a place to sit and rest.
“If you are trapped in the rain, our doors are open. Enter, take a seat, dry and get at home. Welcome to use our wifi, load your phone or simply wait for the clouds to clear, without the need to ask for anything. And to heat you, enjoy a cup of tea for free,” the coffee announced.
The gesture was not isolated. In Karachi, citizens turned to social networks offering help to stranded. Offices, mosques, Madaris and local political party premises opened their doors for the temporary shelter.
“My office in DHA phase 7 … if you want you can stay there,” said a publication on social networks. Another space offered the space near Shahrah-E-Fafaisal: “If someone trapped in Shahrah-E-Fafaisal can stay in our office in Fortune Tower.”
Local residents in other areas also intervened. “Any necessary help near Gulshan-E-iqbal Block 7 I’m available,” said a publication. Another offered refuge near Clifton Block 8 and Pechs Block 6, providing load, water and food facilities.
Khizar Khan confirmed an effort throughout the city. “We have opened all our 103 mosques, Madaris and party offices in Karachi. Night stays, telephone load facilities, toilets, food and drinks everything will be there. Do not hesitate to get there if you are trapped.”
The effusion of support highlighted the resistance and generosity of the karachiites, offering relief to those affected by sudden floods.
