The Local Government Minister of Sindh, Saeed Ghani, reiterated on Sunday that the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP) is not limited to rural constituencies, but represents all the main cities of Sindh. I was talking at the inauguration ceremony of Malir Union Football Stadium.
He said that development schemes worth bills of rupees were running in Karachi and the province, and expressed the hope that they will be completed within the current financial year.
Ghani also opened two other projects, including a community center built by TMC Malir. He said that these facilities had been established for the convenience of residents and would function efficiently. Several similar schemes in Karachi districts were also expected to be completed soon, he added.
Members of the Sindh Raja Razzaq and Salem Baloch assembly, the president of Malir Town, Jan Mohammad Baloch, the president of the city of Ibrahim Hyderi, Nazir Bhutto, Imdad Jokhio, and other elected representatives, leaders and local residents of PPP attended the ceremony.
Highlighting the historical presence of PPP in Malir, Ghani said that the area had produced leading party leaders and that PPP had always defended local interests. The game had won the greatest number of seats in the Malir district during the elections, he said.
He called Shahrah-E-Bhutto one of the best development schemes in the city, benefiting four districts simultaneously, with his final phase to Kathore to complete in December.
Referring to the K-IV project, he said it was delayed due to defects in the initial design, which lacked the key plants and electricity plants. He added that the work was interrupted during Imran Khan’s mandate about accusations of corruption based on cost climbing.
Now, with the PML-N in power, the work had resumed under Wapda, with 70 billion assigned for the Karachi internal water supply. I expected the project to be completed in time.
Ghani also announced that the water supply of the Hub channel would resume on August 14 and that Sindh had requested a greater share of the Hub dam.
Disienting the criticisms that PPP only worked in their strengths, said the party had spent billions of infrastructure even in areas where he had not won a single councilor seat.
He called PPP the largest urban political force in Sindh, noting that he had won local government elections in Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Mirpurkhas and Larkana, with all the mayors of Sindh now in PPP.
He said that the current water and sewerage projects were progressing rapidly and would be completed in the coming months.
In the preparations for Independence Day, Ghani said that the nation was celebrating him as a “victory day.” He praised the Armed Forces and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for the diplomatic efforts that counteracted Indian erroneous information. He urged citizens to actively participate in Independence Day programs.
Answering the questions, he said that the work on the Quaidabad bridge would soon be completed, relieved the movement of travelers.
He reaffirmed PPP’s commitment to the development of Sindh and praised both military achievements and Bilawal diplomatic gains.
