The president of the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has asked the Karachi business community to directly address his complaints with him instead of complaining with others, stating that Sindh remains under the administration of PPP.
Speaking at an event held in honor of the Merchants of Karachi, Bilawal assured them of their full support to solve their challenges.
“If you have complaints against the prime minister, ministers or bureaucrats, take them. There is no need to look for the resolution elsewhere, ”he said.
Bilawal talked about the transformation of the port city, stating that the extortion days and the forced closures of the industries have ended.
“What Karachi experienced in the past is the story. Companies now operate without fear, and workers are no longer forced to political manifestations, ”he added.
Going directly to merchants, he questioned: “Have I ever caused you problems? Why would I want to face problems under my name or this government?
Bilawal criticized the federal government for excluding Sindh in key policy decisions, especially in energy tariffs and electricity supply.
“Decisions are made in Islamabad without consulting us, leaving the provinces to support the consequences,” he said.
He emphasized Sindh’s potential as an energy center, pointing out his vast coal reserves. “Sindh has both coal and Saudi Arabia has oil. We demand affordable electricity for all, ”he said.
Bilawal accused federal leaders of deceptive claims about the end of the cargo zip.
“Tell me a city in Sindh, where the loading of load is over. That is why we are following our own energy projects without the need for federal approval, ”he said.
The president of the PPP highlighted the successful public-private partnership initiatives in Sindh, which they were generating profits and delivering results.
Bilawal ended up urging mutual collaboration, saying: “Let’s work together to ensure that Karachi prospens and Sindh leads the way in development.”
Bilawal’s response occurs two days after the Karachi business community asked the leader of the Pakistan-Nawaz Muslim League (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz to serve as Sindh’s prime minister, citing his performance in Punjab.
During a meeting with the Minister of Planning, Ahsan Iqbal, on Sunday, a senior merchant commented: “Da us Maryam Nawaz Sharif for a while and you can take Murad Ali Shah.”
The proposal was received with a summary of the support of all the merchants present, who supported the idea that Maryam headed the Sindh government. Iqbal was seen smiling at the suggestion, but he refrained from commenting.
