The Karachi Police have presented a first information report (FIR) against one of its officers, the station investigation officer (SIO) ABRAR SHAH, after he allegedly published an obscene comment about President Asif Ali Zardari on social networks.

The incident occurred on April 2, 2025, when Shah shared derogatory comments regarding the sick president, which led to a complaint filed by the Yaqoob service officer of the Sukkun Police Station.

The FIR was registered under the 2016 Electronic Crimes Prevention Law, which addresses cyber crimes.

The plaintiff has provided the police captures of the offensive position.

As a result, Sio Abrar Shah was arrested by Sukkun police, and the case has been transferred to the investigation officer (IO) for new measures.

Previously, the authorities have registered three additional cases under the Law of Prevention of Electronic Crimes (PECA) 2025 for allegedly disseminating propaganda against Punjab Prime Minister, Maryam Nawaz, and state institutions on social networks.

The cases were presented at the Police stations of Shahdara, Shahdara and Kot Lakhpp, which involve serious charges related to digital crimes under Peca 2025.

The first information reports (FIRS) claim that artificial intelligence (AI) was used to create manipulated videos aimed at CM of Punjab.

Police affirms that these videos were part of a coordinated effort of a political group to promote an anti-state narrative and incite disturbances on online platforms.
