Karachi Safe City cameras capture 11 suspects, recover 31 vehicles in 19 days


With the help of advanced cameras installed under the Safe City Project in Karachi, 11 suspects were arrested in 16 days. With the help of modern cameras installed in the city, in 19 days, 31 stolen, seized vehicles, with false license plates or in “Registration requested” status, were also seized.

Details show that results of the installation of advanced cameras under the Safe City Authority in Karachi have started to emerge. With the help of modern cameras, 11 suspects were arrested in 16 days. Safe City Authority Director General (DG) Asif Ejaz Shaikh said The express PAkGazette that with the help of facial recognition (FR) cameras installed under the Safe City Project in Karachi and the Safe City Emergency Response Vehicle, 11 suspects were arrested and handed over to the concerned police between October 20 and November 6.

The arrested suspects include absconding suspects Abdul Azeem, son of Liaquat Khan, Syed Sajjad Hussain, son of Muhammad Akram, Abdul Manan, son of Muhammad Arshad, Ali Abbas, son of Ghulam Abbas, Athar Hussain, son of Muhammad Hussain Khan, Shoukat Ali, son of Shakir Muhammad, Wajid Khan, son of Sahib Roz Dad, Khadim Hussain Chandio, Faizan, son of Noor Muhammad, Shahid. Ullah son of Naimat Ullah and Noman son of Abdul Majeed.

He added that the arrested suspect, Abdul Azeem, was arrested with the help of Safe City Emergency Response Vehicle and handed over to Aram Bagh police. A case was filed against the suspect arrested in 2024 for rioting, damaging, death threats and violations of the Telegraph Act, and the suspect is highly wanted by the police. He said when the suspect’s past history was checked, it was found that six cases had been registered against him between 2022 and 2025 at Alfalah, Zaman Town, City Court, Sharafi Goth and Awami Colony police stations, including terrorism, attempted murder, police encounter, rioting and damage.

He further said that the arrested suspect Syed Sajjad Hussain was discovered with the help of facial recognition camera and arrested and handed over to Aram Bagh police after the team in the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) received an alert. In 2017, two cases were registered against the suspect at Nabi Bux and Garden police stations for kidnapping, robbery and possession of illegal weapons, for which he was wanted.

He added that the arrested suspect, Abdul Mannan, was arrested with the help of facial recognition camera along with a stolen motorcycle and handed over to Aram Bagh police.

The arrested suspect, Ali Abbas, was arrested after an alert was received in the emergency response vehicle and was handed over to Aram Bagh police. A case of forgery and other charges were registered against him at Khokhrapar police station.

The arrested suspect, Athar Hussain, was detected with the help of facial recognition camera and arrested after an alert was received in the emergency response vehicle and he was handed over to Aram Bagh police. Two cases of terrorism, police confrontation, attempted murder and illegal weapons were registered against him at the Baghdadi police station and the police were looking for him.

The arrested suspect, Shoukat Ali, was detected with the help of a facial recognition camera and arrested after an alert was received in the emergency response vehicle and was handed over to the Aram Bagh police. A drug-related case was registered against him at Shah Faisal Colony police station.

The arrested suspect, Wajid Khan, was detected with the help of facial recognition camera and arrested after an alert was received in the emergency response vehicle and he was handed over to Mithadar police. A case of robbery was registered against him at Jamshed Quarters police station.

The arrested suspect, Khadim Hussain Chandio, was located with the help of a facial recognition camera and arrested after an alert was received in the emergency response vehicle and was handed over to the Aram Bagh police. Three cases were registered against him in 2004, 2010 and 2019 in Darqah, Qambar district, on murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping and other charges, and he was highly wanted by the police.

The arrested suspect, Faizan, was detected with the help of facial recognition camera and arrested after an alert was received in the emergency response vehicle and he was handed over to Mithadar police. Two cases of drugs and attempted murder were registered against him at Ittehad Town and Chakiwara police stations and he was wanted by the police.

The arrested suspects, Shahid Ullah and Noman, were located with the help of a facial recognition camera and arrested after an alert was received in the emergency response vehicle and were handed over to the Aram Bagh police. Drug-related cases were registered against them at Peerabad, Mominabad and Sohrab Goth police stations and the police were looking for them.

Safe City Authority Director General Asif Ejaz Shaikh said that with the help of modern ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) cameras installed under the Safe City Project in Karachi, 31 vehicles that were stolen, snatched, had fake number plates or “applied for registration” were also seized. Among the seized vehicles were passenger Mazdas. The vehicles were identified through modern cameras installed at Shaheen Complex, Data Corner, People’s Square, Avari Towers, Stock Exchange, PIDC and Tower.

He reported that a stolen bus that was wandering on the road was also captured. The seized vehicles were confiscated between October 13 and 31. The General Directorate of Ciudad Segura reported that, according to records, the police are searching for almost 150,000 suspects who have escaped in various cases. He added that with the modern cameras installed in the city, it will be difficult for all criminals to hide.
