Karachi: After the strong downpour of Sunday that had the officials alert for urban floods, the dark clouds returned on Karachi on Monday morning, delivering light showers throughout the coastal city, meteorological analysts said.
Drizzle was informed in several neighborhoods, including the Defense Housing Authority (DHA), Korangi Road, Shahrah-E-Fafaisal, Burns Road, Ma Jinnah Road, Qayyumabad, Mehmoodabad, Manzoor Colony and Baloch Colony.
University Road, Jamshed Road, Jehangir Road, Yasenabad and Gulshan-E-iqbal also saw light rain.
According to weather experts, the drizzle could last between 30 and 60 minutes. They added that if the system changes west, Karachi can receive a heavier rain later in the day.
In another part of Sindh, intermittent showers continued through Tharparkar, while Larkana and her adjacent areas were whipped by strong downpours.
The heavy rains also mistreated Khairpur and their outskirts with thunder and lightning, while the downpours on Kot Diji and the hills were flooded the drains and local nullahs. Kashmore, meanwhile, saw light showers that became pleasant.
The heavy rains whipped several parts of Karachi on Sunday, with the Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) warning that the downpours could trigger urban floods in the low areas of the city.
Light to strong rain is informed in Gulshan-E-Hadeed, Malir Halt, Rafa-E-Aam, Bahria Town and its surroundings near the M9 highway.
According to the weather office, the clouds that support rain are currently present in the eastern parts of the megacity. “These clouds can extend even more in the city,” he added.
“Unusual downpours” are expected in Sindh during the next 48 hours, warned the Met office.
He added that “depression” on southwest India, Rajasthan and Gujarat, has strengthened in a “deep depression.”
It is likely that the “deep depression” enters southeastern Sindh in the next 24 hours, said the MT Office.
Under the influence of the weather system, heavy rains were expected in Tharparkar, Umarkot and other cities of Sindh until September 10.
Karachi is also expected to receive heavy intermittent rains with thunderstorms and winding winds during the period, he added.
