Karachiites wake up to the morning showers on the fourth consecutive day

The karachiitas woke up with another round of showers early in the morning on Thursday, marking the fourth consecutive day of relentless monzone rains that have left great strips of the city submerged, overwhelmed rivers and hundreds of displaced.

Showers were reported from Saddar, Ma Jinnah Road, II Chundrigar Road, Burns Road and Clifton.

The Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) has predicted a partially cloudy and humid climate in the city during the next 24 hours, with light rain and drizzle expected today.

The metropolis has witnessed implacable torrential rains during the last three days, causing stress in the city’s drainage system, damaging the infrastructure and leaving travelers stranded on flooded roads.

Several streets and residential areas were flooded after the Lyari and Malir rivers, as well as other currents increased due to heavy rains in Sindh.

The city reported multiple deaths from drowning on the Overflowing Gadap River.

According to the MEC Office, from September 8 to 10, the maximum rain was recorded in the city of Armjani to 143.8 millimeters. Gulshan-E-Maymar received 109.8 mm, Gulshan-E-Hadeed 92 mm and 92 mm Korangi, North Karachi 81.6 mm and DHA 74.5 mm.

Sharea Faisal registered 64 mm, Nazimabad 60.5 mm and Saadi Town 60.2 mm. University Road registered 58.8 mm, former airport 58.3 mm, Orangi 47.2 mm, Mauripur 45 mm and Jinnaah Terminal 38.6 mm.
