The Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) on Thursday that flight operations at Lahore, Sialkot and Karachi airports have been temporarily suspended until 12 pm due to prevailing regional tensions and operational considerations.

According to the PAA, the suspensions at Lahore and Sialkot airports were implemented in the light of the current security situation after high tensions between Pakistan and India.

The authority also confirmed that the operations at Karachi and Islamabad airports were suspended, with the suspension of Islamabad attributed to “operational reasons.”

Passengers have been advised to keep in touch with their respective airlines for the latest updates with respect to flight schedules.

Airport authorities said the decision was made due to the current national security situation.

Earlier on Wednesday, the PAA confirmed that all airports throughout the country had resumed normal operations after a brief suspension of national airspace.

The temporary closure of the airspace followed the cross -border tensions that intensified after the Indian forces made missile attacks in several places inside Pakistan, including cities in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday night of the day.

In response to the strikes, the Pakistan armed forces reported to intercept and knock down five combat planes of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and a combat drone. The military also claimed to have destroyed a headquarters of the Indian Brigade in retaliation action.
