Kasim Khan, son of jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, on Wednesday again accused the government of deliberately refusing to process his and his brother’s visa to prevent the brothers from reuniting with their father.

Imran has been jailed since August 2023 and is currently serving a sentence in Adiala Jail in a £190 million corruption case. In addition, he faces pending lawsuits under the Anti-Terrorism Act related to the protests on May 9, 2023. The party has expressed concern in recent days about Imran’s health and demanded treatment from its own team of doctors.

Last year, Imran’s sister Aleema Khan told reporters that Sulaiman Khan and Kasim would participate in a protest movement planned for August 5, 2025. Later, it was reported that Imran had declared that his children would not come to Pakistan to join the protest. The brothers subsequently held meetings with key people in the United States.

However, the issue has also provoked reactions from the government. The Prime Minister’s political affairs adviser, Rana Sanaullah, warned that Imran’s children, who reside in the UK with their mother Jemima Goldsmith, would be arrested if they took part in the protest.

He said denying treatment to a prisoner was cruel and denying his children the right to see him was collective punishment.

“I call on international human rights organizations and governments to speak out and act before irreversible damage is done.”

Two days earlier, the PTI alleged, citing a report, that the government had decided to withhold visa approval for Imran’s children to prevent access to him. According to an Interior Ministry source, “they will not be granted visas. The decision has already been made. The government just wants to delay the decision as long as possible without actually announcing it.”

The report claimed that the government planned to deny visas on technical grounds, such as failing to disclose recent travel to the United Arab Emirates, rather than issuing an outright rejection.

Sulaiman and Kasim have previously called for international attention to what they describe as their father’s “inhumane” imprisonment, calling in particular on US President Donald Trump to use his influence to support his release.

The brothers previously said they were forced to speak out due to the desperate circumstances surrounding their father’s detention.
