Kate Beckinsale opened up about her heartbreaking experience in Hollywood following Blake Lively’s recent sexual harassment claim against Justin Baldoni.
The 51-year-old actress took to her official Instagram account on December 30 and posted a video talking about the abusive behavior she had faced and that she has around “47 million stories” to tell.
He Chance Star noted that Lively and Baldoni’s case “highlighted… this machine that goes into effect when a woman complains about something legitimately offensive, disturbing, harmful, whatever, in this industry.”
“A publicist I was employing forced me to do a photo shoot the day after I had a miscarriage,” Beckinsale recalls. “I said, ‘I can’t.’ I’m bleeding. I don’t want to go change my clothes in front of people I don’t know and do a photo shoot.”
“‘I’m bleeding from a miscarriage.’ She told me, ‘You’re going to have to do it or they’re going to sue you,'” he said.
Sharing another on-set experience, the actress revealed: “On one movie they put me on such a strict diet and exercise program that I lost my periods completely – that happened twice.”
While talking about yet another encounter, Beckinsale shared that she was once called a “c*** and ab****” for complaining about her “drunk co-star” who made her wait six hours.
She claimed that she had been “criticized and made to feel like I was a problem, blamed and ostracized.”
“I’m grateful to Blake Lively for highlighting that this is not some archaic problem that no one is facing; this continues,” she added. “And I’m sure that’s the case in other industries too, and it just has to stop.”
