Kate Middleton was left devastated when Prince William decided to leave her alone for the New Year celebrations.
In 2006, the couple had made plans to spend New Year’s Eve together after celebrating Christmas with their respective families. However, in a change of plans, William decided to cancel his date with Kate after a brief conversation with his family.
In the book titled The Making of a Royal Romance, royal author Katie Nicholl noted: “William had been reconsidering and sat down with his father and grandmother to have a frank conversation about his future with Kate. They both advised him not to rush in anything.”
Kate was eventually left alone in the ‘flood of tears’, contemplating her romance with Prince William.
The couple eventually married in 2011 and were titled Prince and Princess of Wales after the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.
