Kate Winslet recently opened up about how taking on intense, dark acting roles once took such a toll on her mental health that she had to seek professional help.

The 50-year-old Oscar winner, known for bringing deep emotions to the screen, spoke at the Lessons from our mothers podcast about how deeply the characters they play can affect actors.

Kate explained that exiting a role is not easy and described the “re-entry” process, in which an actor has to return to his or her own life, friends and family after living in a character for months.
