Indiana Fever’s brave effort to make the WNBA finals come to an end on Tuesday night, since they fell to A’JA Wilson and Los Aces de Las Vegas in game 5, 107-98.

The fever guard, Kelsey Mitchell, has been a brilliant point for the team throughout the season, since the list saw several star players, including Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham, move on to the season due to an injury. But Mitchell had a terrifying moment during the game.

Mitchell was about to drive along the baseline in the last quarter when Aliyah Boston was called for his fifth foul. The veteran guard stopped in the key for a moment and grabbed an officer’s arm, seemed to indicate that he needed help. She went cautiously to the floor when the fever players and the staff approached to tend.

It was helped to the floor and enter the locker room. The fever said Mitchell was taken to the hospital by severe cramps.

On Wednesday, Mitchell revealed that he suffered a medical condition called rhabdomyolysis that could prevent his muscles from working properly.

“I suffered something called rhabdomyolysis last night. My muscles stopped producing and reached their maximum capacity,” he wrote. “I entered a feeling of numbness/paralyzing feeling without movement from my lower extremities for up to 5 to 7 seconds.

“I panicked because I began to think the worst when I felt I couldn’t move my legs. It was an experience outside the body and I thank God for covering myself at a time like that.”

Mitchell, three times All-Star, was one of the fever players that intensified tremendously in the absences of his other stars. He played 44 games this season, averaging 20.2 points and 3.4 assists per game.
