Kenan Thompson opened about his recent health diagnosis after months of silent suffering.
He Saturday Night Live Star talked about his health struggle with which he has been fighting for more than two years in a recent conversation with People.
The comedian revealed that he faced serious acidity problems SNL.
“I realized that it would become much easier when I am doing the show. Losing my voice faster, but also nights of uncomfortable insomnia because I am burying acid, just a bit of hiccups all night,” he told The Outlet.
Thompson continued to say: “And that can definitely add more stress to an already stressful type of environment making a live show like that. So all those factors, I like whatever, I will overcome it. But it began to accumulate.”
“I could take something and repair it for the moment, but I reached a point where that no longer worked. It was then when it became serious,” he explained more. “It was a situation of suffering in silence. I don’t know if I was necessarily ashamed to talk to a doctor, I just didn’t know if it was necessary.”
After his symptoms became “extremes” in early 2024, he decided to visit a doctor and was diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease, also known as the EGE.
“I didn’t know there was a true medical term for it,” he said.
“EGE (acid reflux) is a disease that occurs when stomach acid returns to the esophagus. It can cause discomfort and can lead to precancerous changes in the esophagus lining,” according to the mayonnaise clinic.
Now, after his diagnosis, his doctors recommended that he take a potassium competitive acid blocker to handle painful acidity. “I felt a lot of immediate relief,” added the 46 -year -old actor.
