Kevin Hart said he got bit by the golf bug. The award-winning actor and comedian will make his debut at historic Augusta National Golf Club on Wednesday for the annual Par 3 contest.

The contest, held annually on the eve of the Masters, draws competitors’ families (and occasionally celebrities like Hart) for a rare opportunity to caddy or even take a swing at the prestigious course. This year, Hart served as caddy for two-time US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau.

While the pairing of a Texas native and golf pro with a Hollywood star may have seemed unlikely, the duo seemed to quickly form a connection at Augusta, and DeChambeau offered Hart some advice on the course.

When asked by ESPN about his goal for the day, Hart made it clear that he wanted to “be the best caddy of all caddies.”

“I’m not Kevin Hart, today’s global superstar. Please put that out of your mind. Not the movie star, the comedian that everyone knows around the world. Throw that in the bag. Today, I’m Bryson’s caddy.”

DeChambeau then revealed that he met Hart while the comedian was diving deeper into golf, a connection that ultimately led to them being teammates on one of the sport’s most iconic courses.

“We filmed a video a couple of months ago called ‘Caddie Talk,’ just Kevin and I, while he was getting into golf. I said, ‘Let’s do something fun together,’ so I showed him the course. He became a pretty good caddy, and now he has the job here at the Par 3 contest.”

But Hart ended up doing more than is typical of a caddy on Wednesday. When he reached the 9th hole, the comedian grabbed one of DeChambeau’s irons, walked up to the ball and boasted that he would only need one shot.

“I was made for this,” Hart declared.

However, he ended up swinging and the ball falling into the water. The announcer gave Hart a slight reprieve by pointing out the actor’s lack of golf experience and the difficulty of making a good swing while wearing caddy gear. “Okay, he started playing golf seven months ago, golf is a difficult game,” the announcer noted. “I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, it’s a little difficult to swing with the caddy suit (and) without a glove.”
