United Natural Foods, the largest wholesale distributor in North America, has confirmed that he suffered a cyber attack that forced him to extract parts of his off -line infrastructure.
In a new 8-K form presented to the United States Stock Exchange and Securities Commission (SEC), the company said it was working with third-party cybersecurity experts to evaluate and mitigate the damage.
The incident caused “temporary interruptions” to the commercial operations of United Natural Foods, it was also said, since the company works to evaluate, mitigate and remedy the incident with the help of third -party experts. The police were also notified of the attack.

“On June 5, 2025, United Natural Foods realized the unauthorized activity in some of its information technology systems (IT),” says the presentation.
“The company quickly activated its Incident Response Plan and implemented containment measures, including the proactive taking of certain out -of -line systems, which has temporarily impacted the company’s capacity to meet and distribute customer orders.”
While no other details were shared, companies are generally offline when they suffer a ransomware attack, since that is the best way to prevent additional devices from encrypting. It also prevents threat actors from exfiltren confidential archives of the network, which is the standard practice with ransomware attackers these days.
“The company continues to work to restore its systems to return to them online,” concludes the document. “Research to evaluate the impact and scope of the incident remains in progress and is in its early stages.”
Based in Providence, Rhode Island, and supplies more than 30,000 retail locations in the United States and Canada, United Natural Foods is the largest wholesaler of natural, organic and conventional groceries products in North America, including being the main comprehensive food supplier owned by Amazon.
There are no piracy groups that are still responsible for this attack.
