Khaman Maluach goes from Sudanese refugee to the NBA

The list of the Phoenix Suns will look very different this fall.

Only a few days before the NBA Draft of 2025, reports emerged from a trade that involved Kevin Durant. The agreement is expected to send to the twice NBA champion to Houston Rockets, Espn reported Sunday.

Maluach was a member of the National South Sudan Basketball team that pushed the US team on the edge of the Paris Olympic Games. Before landing in Durham, North Carolina, Maluach competed at the NBA Academy Africa. Now he is the best Drafted player in the Academy.

“I am here representing the entire continent,” Maluach told ESPN moments after crossing the draft stage and shaken Silver’s hand at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

“Living in Africa, I had the whole continent on my back, giving hope to young children, inspiring young children and the next generation of African basketball.”

Maluach averaged 8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game during his alone in Duke. It began 39 games for the Blue Devils, which advanced to the Final Four in April.

Maluach wore a rocket hat in the draft phase because the reported transaction in which it was included has not yet become an official. Maluach wore a suns hat during a press conference after being recruited. He expressed emotion for going to Arizona.
