- Kindle Update 5.18.1 is being implemented
- Add a new double touch function to the page to replace the screen taps
- Your Kindle can now also show you a summary of some of the books you have read
The last and better Kindles have a lot to offer, from the color pages of Kindle Colorsooft to the largest pad of Kindle Scribe to write and AI functions, but a reduction for many has been the removal of buttons for turning pages.
Instead, you must touch the screen to turn, which can stain the screen. Now, as seen by Good E-Reader, the latest update of Amazon Kindle (5.18.1 that is being displayed now) is bringing a double touch tool to the page.
As you can probably guess by the name, once the function turns on in its configuration, instead of touching the screen, you can touch the Kindle frame to turn the page in your book or move down (as on your home or library screens).
It is not clear exactly how Amazon has unlocked this new page rotation ability, but the Kindle probably depends on its accelerometer and other internal sensors to detect taps.
The only inconvenience of this simple but effective solution is that touching does not yet offer the same level of control as the dedicated buttons, with the biggest problem that can only advance.
If you accidentally turn a page too soon or move down too much, you must trust the screen taps to return.
Recapitulation reminders
In addition to the page turn, the Kindle devices are obtaining a new summary tool.
Have you ever come to read the next book in a series but I can’t remember what happened in the last post? The summaries allow you to access a brief summary of the events of a Kindle book that has bought or taken (whenever it is one of the many English bestsellers backed by the function).
It sounds like the perfect way to refresh you quickly in what happened before immersing yourself in the last entry.
If you do not want to wait for update 5.18.1 to reach your Kindle automatically, you can go to the Amazon official software update page to manually accelerate the device update from your PC.
