King Charles’ classic umbrella makes another royal appearance

King Charles made a quiet appearance at Sandringham royal estate church on Sunday, greeting well-wishers as he arrived for the service.

The monarch attended without Queen Camilla, stepping out in his family attire.

Completing the look was a classic umbrella with a wooden handle that has become something of a royal signature during field trips.

The King acknowledged members of the public waiting outside and offered them a friendly greeting before entering for the service at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

The low-key outing followed the publication of Charles’ annual message to mark Commonwealth Day, which falls on March 9.

As Head of the Commonwealth, the King used the speech to reflect on the challenging global climate, highlighting the growing tension caused by armed conflict, environmental disruption and a rapidly changing world.

In his message, the monarch noted that communities around the world are going through a period full of uncertainty and opportunity.

He noted that difficult moments often reveal the resilience and unity that bind nations together, and described those moments as when the enduring spirit of the organization becomes most visible.
