Palace aides are reportedly springing into action as they are forced to make last-minute changes before releasing an important message from King Charles.
The monarch, who is expected to address the public in a Christmas broadcast as is tradition each year, received the devastating news of the attacks on Bondi Beach in Australia, leaving him “horrified and saddened.”
The Christmas speech given by the monarch is usually pre-written and recorded before the big day. However, as the attacks in Australia emerged, royal experts suggested that failure to mention the incident, in the country of which he is also Head of State, would reflect poorly.
“To remain relevant, the King’s festive setting has to respond to external events, however dire, unfolding in the run-up to the Christmas season,” commented Sky News Australia correspondent Tessa Dunlop.
He explained that since Charles is “well positioned to show leadership in Australia’s hour of darkness”, a Christmas broadcast from a king would “provide a salve” to victims and their families.
The royal author noted that the King has established himself as a “defender of all religions,” so he should try to maintain it.
Although the King has shown quick action by issuing a statement expressing his thoughts whenever a tragedy occurs in one of his states or Commonwealth nations. This time was no different either.
