King Charles’ legal team was urgently asked to contact lawyers for Epstein’s accuser over Andrew’s allegations following the publication of new material from the US Department of Justice relating to the late sex offender.
Legal representatives of a woman who alleges Epstein sent her to the UK for a meeting with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor have asked King Charles to contact them directly.
Lawyers representing the unnamed accuser, described as the second woman to come forward with allegations against the former prince, said any testimony she could provide would be “irrelevant.”
They argued that only a “sincere and real apology” from the monarch could allow the royal family to “maintain some level of credibility” with survivors of Epstein’s abuse.
Brad Edwards, a lawyer at US firm Edwards Henderson, previously told the bbc that his client spent the night with Andrew after a tour of Buckingham Palace.
Andrew, 65, is repeatedly referenced in Epstein’s newly released material.
The trove of documents included images that reportedly showed a man resembling the former prince crouching over an unidentified woman lying on the ground.
The monarch, 77, has already taken action against his brother and stripped Andrew of royal titles after the posthumous publication of Virginia Giuffre’s book, in which she alleges that Epstein and his ex-partner Ghislaine Maxwell trafficked her when she was 17.
