The British prime minister, Keir Starmer, recently handed Trump a letter from King Charles in the White House.
Trump accepted the monarch to visit Great Britain, turning the president of the United States into the first elected political leader in the modern times that Charles organized two state visits.
The president of the United States opened immediately and read the letter, checking jokingly that the signing of the king was carrying, which he later described as “beautiful” and held the cameras to see.
An article published in The Telegraph said: “The king who wrote to President Trump invited him to Britain was not because his Majesty wanted him, but because his prime minister thought an invitation was of national interest.”
The article said: “Once Starmer had told the King the wishes of his ministers, his majesty had to comply.”
“The king will not be dragged into politics. He will follow the advice of his prime minister. State visits are a vital part of soft power. And soft power is all we have left, ”said Telegraph’s article citing a superior politician.
He said: “However, if the King opposed, a constitutional crisis would have precipitated: the resignation of the prime minister and the government, and a general election on the subject. If, after that election, Starmer remained in office and the king still refused, could force an abdication.”
The article said: “Happily, no monarch has tried to ignore the wishes of his government since the seventeenth century, so the monarchy attracts so much respect.”
