Karachi:
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has launched impulse against illegal and unauthorized constructions, particularly high -height buildings, within Katchi Abadis falls under its jurisdiction.
According to a formal notification, issued by the office of Senior Director Katchi Abadis, the department has raised serious concerns about the growing number of several -story buildings that are built without approved construction plans of the Control Authority of Sindh buildings (SBCA). These constructions are illegal, violate the existing statutes and represent significant threats for public safety.
It was clarified that the Katchi Abadis department only regularizes land possession according to the approved design plan (LOP), while the authority to approve construction plans rests only with SBCA.
This action is aligned with the policy of the Government of Sindh to guarantee uniform repression in illegal constructions and dangerous buildings to avoid any adversary incident.
The official communication has also been sent to Commissioner Karachi, the President of the Provincial Authority of Disaster Management, Secretary of Mayor and other key stakeholders for the necessary actions and monitoring.
The employee ‘suicide’
A 50 -year -old man committed suicide in his residence in Old Golimar. The deceased, identified as Muhammad Afzal, was an employee of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).
The body of the deceased was transferred to the Civil Hospital after he was found with a rope tied around his neck. Family members revealed that the deceased was the father of a son and four daughters, and was fighting with drug addiction. They declared that he, according to the reports, went to the roof and committed suicide.
The family refused to file any police complaint, and after legal formalities, took custody of the deceased’s body. Additional investigations on the incident are ongoing.
