The Knicks were heavy in the series, since the defenders boasted the second best record at the ESE conference with 61-21, 10 games better than the 51-31 Knicks.
But the Knicks took the first two games of the series in Boston, overcoming the deficits of 20 points at the end of the second half on both occasions to transform the perspectives of the series.

The Celtics ended up taking game 3 in an unequal game 115-93, and searched the way to match the series through the first four quarters of game 4 with a solid advantage. But another furious return of the Knicks, combined with the Celtics star, Jayson Tatum, suffering a torn, placed the Knicks 3-1 with the entire impulse.
Even without Tatum, the Celtics managed to avoid elimination at home in game 5 with a 127-102 victory. But when the series returned to Madison Square Garden, the Celtics seemed immediately overcome, falling into a deep deficit in game 6 at the beginning of the game, since the Knicks led by 27 in the middle of time.

Now, the Celtics will go home facing uncertainty about the next season with Tatum ready to face a long recovery process.
The Knicks will face the Indiana Pacers, whom they lost in the semifinals of the conference last year, seeking to return to the finals of the NBA for the first time since 1999.
