Oklahoma Sooners’s open receiver, Kontez Lewis, left the team’s 44-0 victory over Kent State’s gold flashes early after suffering a terrifying injury in an attempt to capture.
Lewis tried to track a ball from the Michael Hawkins Jr. field marshal who was thrown on his head in the first quarter. It was found in the back of the annotation zone when it caught it, but fell and crashed headed on the brick wall that bordered the final area of the commemorative stadium in Norman, Oklahoma.

Lewis was still on the ground for several seconds before the team’s training staff came to attend to him. He was tied to a stretcher and left the field.
“That was something sincere,” said the defensive wing of Sooners R Mason Thomas. “That is my teammate, my brother, and has pain. I hope it’s fine. We definitely have to send some messages, be in the hospital. I hope it’s fine.”
Lewis was sent offside for additional tests and the perspective was “promising,” said Ou Sports Medicine.

“What a terrifying thing for him,” said Oklahoma coach Brent, after the game. “With luck, it will be fine in the long term here.”
Oklahoma’s chief coach, Brent Venables, said he thinks he will arrive more padded to the brick barrier exposed around the field.
“We are evaluating all the options when it comes to the security of our players,” he said.

Lewis has 17 trapped for 210 yards and two touchdowns this season.
