Kp at risk of dengue after rains

The risk of dengue outbreak is increasing in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) after recent rains. The situation has led to Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to realize and order all the relevant departments to initiate urgent measures against dengue throughout the province.

According to the official sources, the Secretariat of the Principal Minister has issued managers to all the Division Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Relevant Departments, instructing them to launch comprehensive campaigns against Dengue in an emerging manner. According to reports, the stagnant water resulting from recent downpours is creating a breeding broth for mosquitoes that transport dengue.

The statement emphasizes that public places, construction sites, markets, schools, government offices and drains must be cleaned with stagnant water to stop mosquito breeding.

The Department of Health has also aimed at making preventive arrangements in hospitals to handle possible dengue patients. This includes guaranteeing the availability of medicines, diagnostic equipment and other essential facilities.

The department has the task of establishing an integrated system for effective surveillance and timely reports of dengue cases throughout the province.

Local government agencies have been ordered to perform regular spray in sensitive and high risk areas to stop the outbreak of death.

In addition, the Information Department, in collaboration with the health authorities and administrations of the District, will launch a large -scale awareness campaign through printed, electronic and social network platforms. This campaign aims to educate the public about dengue prevention.

Citizens have been urged to take precautionary measures, such as draining stagnant water around their homes and neighborhoods, covering water tanks and using mosquito networks, repellent and protective clothing to reduce the risk of infection.

The prime minister has also asked the mosques, schools and community leaders who actively participate in the public’s education against dengue.

CM Gandapur said: “Dengue prevention is a collective responsibility. All departments are responsible for increasing public awareness and implementing effective measures to combat this threat.”

In addition, he directed that all commissioners present weekly reports on anti-sports, hospital preparation and awareness campaigns to guarantee the effectiveness and timely response of the campaign.
