KP CM Gandapur urges Pakistani abroad to send remittances through the Khyber Bank

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s prime minister (KP), Ali Amin Gandapur, has asked foreign Pakistani to send remittances through the Khyber bank, emphasizing the need to strengthen financial institutions for economic stability.

Speaking at the launch of the Bank’s Islamic Banking Service, Gandapur praised the initiative, stating that an interest -free banking system was essential for economic progress.

“A well structured financial system is crucial for any country or province. Strengthening our institutions is a priority, ”he said.

The prime minister also highlighted the economic performance of the province, stating that KP was fulfilling its objectives in line with the requirements of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“Investors will receive government incentives, and these measures will improve confidence in the Khyber Bank and our administration,” he added.

Khyber’s president, Ikramullah Khan, also speaking at the event, announced that Islamic bank branches would be expanded throughout the country according to the guidelines of the State Bank of Pakistan.

When addressing security concerns, Gandapur said RS2 billion had been assigned to install CCTV cameras and security control points.

“We will not go back. Those responsible for the riots will not be saved, and we will completely eliminate terrorism, ”he said.

The prime minister also mentioned long -standing tensions in the Kurram district, claiming that the external forces were exploiting the situation.

He reaffirmed that the government was committed to solving the matter through dialogue and decisive action.

Previously, the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, had asked the Pakistani abroad to boycott the remittances.

He had urged the Pakistani abroad to boycott sending remittances, increasing political tensions such as their party, Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), faces the government.

However, the remittances of Pakistan workers registered a strong entry of $ 3 billion in January 2025, reflecting a growth of 25.2% year -on -year (year -on -year) and marked the fourth consecutive current account surplus in 2025.

Accumulatively, from July to January of fiscal year 2025, remittances reached $ 20.8 billion, marking an increase of 31.7% compared to $ 15.8 billion in the same period last year, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) .

The main sources of remittance entries in January included Saudi Arabia ($ 728.3 million), the United Arab Emirates ($ 621.7 million), the United Kingdom ($ 443.6 million) and the United States ($ 298.5 million).

Analysts expect this upward trend to continue, with Sana Tawfiq, Chief of Research of Arifib Limited (AHL), stating: “The increase is aligned with market expectations.”
