Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday received separate briefings at the Governor House on the operations and restoration of Radio Pakistan Peshawar as well as the performance of the Immigration and Passport Department in the province.
The first briefing on Radio Pakistan was conducted by station director Tufail Ahmed and senior producer Sardar Azam Khan was also present. The authorities informed the governor that the station was founded on March 6, 1935, with initial transmissions from the Civil Secretariat.
Governor Kundi was also briefed about the damage inflicted on the Radio Pakistan building during the May 9, 2023 riots, when miscreants caused extensive destruction and set fire to valuable historical recordings. Officials reported that restoration work was completed in January 2026, allowing all offices and departments to resume full operations.
