KP govt declares emergency in Kurram district

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has imposed a relief emergency in Kurram district due to the prevailing law and order situation, Express News reported.

The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. The provincial cabinet discussed the security situation and general circumstances in Kurram.

Official sources confirmed that the cabinet approved the imposition of emergency relief for the district. According to sources, relief payments for the dead and injured in Kurram have already been processed.

The provincial government, in a bid to comply with legal requirements, confirmed the continuation of the relief emergency.

In addition to this, the cabinet approved the application of measures against money laundering and financial terrorism. The cabinet also backed the creation of a National Commission for Minority Rights to safeguard minority rights.

Other key decisions included the approval of kidney and liver transplant centers in the province, along with the establishment of youth centers in Karak.

Additionally, the cabinet agreed to provide grants to provincial universities and appoint members to the Academic Search Committee. In addition, the establishment of a cadet college for girls in Dera Ismail Khan was also approved.
