District administration officials said that apart from the DC, six other people were injured, including Border Police personnel, a policeman and four civilians who were passing by.

The deputy commissioner, who had played a key role in efforts to restore peace in the restive region, and others were rushed to hospital immediately after the attack.

kurram violence

Kurram has been in the spotlight for months as persistent violence in the district claimed more than 130 lives and dozens injured, with a peace deal finally reached on January 1 after negotiations of around 50 days. among tribal elders.

The two warring sides in Kurram district, with the help of the Grand Jirga, agreed on 14 points, including the delivery of private weapons to the government and the dismantling of bunkers.

The agreement was expected to hold as the violence forced the government to block the Tal-Parachinar highway, leading to shortages of food, medicine and other essential items in the district.

As a result of the dismissal, Barrister Saif, who is also an advisor to the KP Chief Minister (CM), said that the convoy of trucks transporting relief goods to the district had been stopped for the time being.

He also said the deputy commissioner’s condition was out of danger and he was being flown to Peshawar by helicopter for further medical care.
