The authorities in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have issued a heat wave alert, since temperatures are forecast throughout the province will increase significantly in the coming days.
The Provincial Authority for Disaster Management (PDMA) said in a statement on Saturday that most districts are expected to experience a gradual increase in the daytime temperatures on Monday, said Express News.
The maximum diurnal could increase from 4 to 6 degrees Celsius, while dry and dusty winds can affect some areas in the afternoon and night.
The MET office warned that prolonged heat and dry conditions could increase the risk of heat blows and tension water resources.
The PDMA has ordered all district administrations and relevant departments that take precautionary measures. The agency urged the public to avoid direct exposure to the sun between 10 am and 5 pm, especially older people and children.
Farmers have been advised to guarantee an adequate water supply for their crops, while the Health Department has received instructions to keep the heat stroke centers into operation. Paramedics and rescue teams have been put on alert.
Instructions to safeguard cattle and pets during heat wave have also been issued.
The drivers have been advised to check the engine coolant and the pressure of the tires of their vehicle before traveling. The PDMA said that its emergency operating center is fully functional and that citizens can inform emergencies through the 1700 help line.
