Documents received by Geographical news Reveal a significant disparity in the salaries of police personnel between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and other provinces.
According to the documents, the monthly salary of the Inspector General (IG) of Baluchistan is RS369,498 higher than that of the IG of KP, while the salary of a police superintendent (SP) in Baluchistan exceeds that of a SP in KP by RS221,196.
The documents also indicate that there is a difference of RS281,177 in the salaries of the superintendents of the police (SSP) and additional general inspectors (AIG) between Baluchistan and KP. In addition, the difference in salaries between the Deputy General Inspectors (DIG) of both provinces amounts to RS306,474.
The documents show that the additional between IG wage gap in KP and Baluchistan is at RS322,309. In Baluchistan, an agent wins RS69,885 compared to RS69,127 in KP, while the salary difference for assistant sub -inspectors (ASIS) is RS345.
Interestingly, sub -inspectors in Baluchistan receive RS1,606 less than their counterparts in KP, inspectors receive less than 363, and there is a difference of RS14,540 in DSP and ASP wages. Meanwhile, police personnel in Punjab and Sindh also receive higher wages than KP.
KP IG Zulfiqar Hameed recently wrote a letter to KP’s prime minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, requesting an increase in police force salaries.
In the letter, he said that the KP police have made immense sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and face security threats similar to the Baluchistan police. Therefore, he urged the government to declare KP as a “hard area” and raise police salaries to coincide with those of Baluchistan.
