KP proposes an increase in traffic fines under a new budget

The Khyberpakhtunkhwa (KP) government has proposed substantial increases in traffic rape fines on its finance bill by 2025-26, with a particular approach to regulate three-wheeled vehicles and stop driving minors.

For the first time, a separate category for three -wheeled vehicles, including Rickshaws and loaders, Associated Press of Pakistan (app) reported Tuesday.

The fines for these vehicles will vary from RS200 to RS10,000 depending on the nature of the violation. Failure to comply with route permits will incur a fine of RS5,000, which will double for repeat offenders.

The bill also proposes a stricter action against the use of fraudulent driving licenses. People who are driving with false documents can face fines between RS5,000 and RS10,000.

Sanctions have also been reviewed by the conduction of minors. Musts for motorcyclists under 18 will increase from RS1,000 to RS3,000, while minor drivers of small cars will face fines of RS5,000, above the current RS2,000.

The authorities said that the proposed measures aim to improve road safety and traffic discipline throughout the province.
