Rawalpindi:
The female health and sanitation patrol workers in Rawalpindi are in arms against the “excessive workload during the Ramazan”, which includes two double changes for polio and dengue prevention tasks, followed by additional tasks until 10 pm to compile computerized microclans.
Many workers have reported growing domestic tensions due to their prolonged absence from home from morning until late at night.
Some families have resorted to the purchase of IFTAR articles in the market, since women cannot prepare food at home.
Frustrated by the situation, the workers organized a strong protest in the District Health Office. According to Protestant workers, the workload has become unbearable as Ramazan approaches his end.
After completing the surveillance and immunization tasks of dengue, they are forced to manually write microplanes for the inspections of the next day, begging the computer operators to digitize them. This process extends their work hours until 9 or 10 pm, forcing them to break their fasts at work or in the streets instead of their families.
In addition to its frustration, minor errors are found in reports with immediate display causes. Women also complain that their compensation is scarce compared to the exhausting 18 -hour working days that are forced to endure.
