Lahore Traffic Police has launched a new initiative to improve the provision of public services and working conditions for traffic guards, starting with the installation of high -tech traffic kiosks in the main intersections of the city.

The traffic director (CTO), Dr. Athar Waheed, said the first kiosk has settled in Afshan Chowk in Mall Road and offers facilities such as the emission of motorcycle licenses and the collection of driver’s licenses.

He said that the measure aims to bring traffic services to citizens while protecting personnel in service of hard climatic conditions.

The kiosks are equipped with air conditioning, drinking water and rest areas for guardians, which allows them to work in a safer and comfortable environment.

Each kiosk will also be equipped with a speakers system for traffic control ads. Traffic guards will be deployed throughout the day in three shifts.

“All traffic related services will be accessible in these kiosks, which makes the system more friendly to citizens,” said Dr. Waheed.

The initiative is inspired by the models used in developed countries and is gradually implemented.

After Afshan Chowk, kiosks will be installed in other parts, including Mall Road, Gulberg and Iqbal Town.

The project is being monitored by the headquarters of SP Mansoor-Ul-Hassan under the directives of the Punjab Prime Minister.
